Catholic Charities of the Diocese of St. Cloud, MN

For Grandma Anita, joining the Foster Grandparent Program was a no-brainer. “The program gets me into the community. I love working with kids, they are always up lifting,” she shared. Anita particularly enjoys the one-on-one time she provides to students to help them succeed.

One student exclaimed, “I like working with Grandma because she helps me with big words!” The extra practice with reading big words helped this student earn a prize after reading more than 10,000 words and passing Accelerated Reading tests, leading to smiles all around!

Teachers Darcy Ramler and Kelly Bierbaum are grateful for the extra help. “Grandma Anita is so kind, patient, and helpful! We look forward to seeing her each week.” They appreciate the one-on-one support Foster Grandparent volunteers provide, offering extra practice that teachers might not always have time for. They witness the positive impacts of this treasured time.

Grandma Anita encourages others to volunteer with the Foster Grandparent Program to experience the uplifting nature of being with children and the gratitude of the teachers they assist. These intergenerational relationships truly are a win for ALL!
